Who’s That  Girl,

Bethlehem Shalom?

Bethlehem Shalom is an artist from Bathtub, Alaska currently residing in Los Angeles. Shalom calls her music “Space Age Soul Pop” and sites Stevie Wonder, The Black Keys, & Shannon And The Clams, as a few of her musical inspirations.

“Owe Me Money” opens with an airy introduction and a message of empowerment. A dance-floor bounce follows. The song’s upbeat vibe contrasts with the emotional burdens the lyrics describe.” “Owe Me Money” isn’t the only song to grow out of this thawing ground. In March, Shalom posted a home performance of her recently written song “Lemons” as a submission to NPR’s 2023 Tiny Desk Contest. She called it “an ode to the popular phrase ‘When life gives you lemons.’” The piano-and-voice performance showcases Shalom at her most vocally unfiltered. Commenters on her own social media reported chills and tears".” (Mark Lester, Anchorage Daily News, 2023)

Bethlehem’s most recent song, “Lucky Tennessee” was produced, mixed, mastered entirely by Shalom herself. Not only performing but producing is also where she shines. Songs like “Groundhog Day” or “Owe Me Money” grasp at a nostalgic, upbeat, notion that follows throughout her music.
