Who’s That Girl,
Bethlehem Shalom?
Hailing from the remote wilds of Bathtub, Alaska and now rooted in the vibrant music scene of Los Angeles, Bethlehem Shalom is a singer, songwriter, and producer with a sound all her own. She calls it Space Age Soul Pop—a genre-bending blend of vintage soul, bluesy grit, and futuristic pop.
Drawing inspiration from icons like James Brown, Stevie Wonder, The Black Keys, Sly and the Family Stone, Bethlehem brings a raw, emotional edge to her music that’s both timeless and forward-looking.
Bethlehem’s musical journey began early and took shape through formal training at The LA Recording School and countless hours performing live. She has shared stages with notable acts like Medium Build, Magic Giant, and Lovely the Band, and appeared at festivals including Angry Young and Poor and Sundown Festival. Her breakout moment came with a haunting, slowed-down cover of The Black Keys’ “Tighten Up”—a fan favorite that went viral on TikTok with over a million views and even earned a repost from SZA on her Instagram story, introducing Bethlehem’s soulful style to a much wider audience. Her recent original release “Rapunzel” continues to build on that momentum—a campy fairytale with soul, blending retro-pop flair with a rebellious twist and flipping the script on traditional narratives.
When she's not making music, she’s often lost in the world of vintage fashion—collecting, sewing, and reviving eclectic styles that echo her one-of-a-kind artistry. Bethlehem Shalom is not just a sound, but a vision—rooted in the past, launched into the future.
